Could have, Would have, Should have

Have you ever noticed how these three little words, could, would and should, tend to dominate our language?

They all have many important and rather innocuous uses of course, … but they can also be reflective of a life not lived to its full potential.

I’m referring, in particular, to the use of these words when paired with the word ‘have’, as in “could have …”, “would have …” and “should have …”.

“Should have. Would have. Could have. Didn’t.”

I can’t or I can?

It’s interesting how the mindsets of people who, on the face of it, appear equally capable, can be so different.

Some are what we would call empowered, in other words confident in their ability, in control of their life and willing to take on life’s challenges.

Others are disempowered, in other words struggling with a feeling of powerlessness, not feeling in control of their life and tending to shrink from life’s challenges.

So what is it that separates the empowered from the disempowered?

“When you know yourself you are empowered. When you accept yourself you are invincible.”

Take charge of your life

Sometimes life seems patently unfair, doesn’t it. It seems that, out of the blue things can happen that you feel you just don’t deserve. A string of unfortunate events can make you feel that life has ‘got it in for you.’

There’s no question that life is full of challenges – some exciting, some enjoyable and some that you could, quite frankly, rather do without! But some of us seem to experience more than our fair share of undesirable challenges.

Could it be that this has something to do with mindset rather than an unlucky sequence of ‘rolls of the dice’?

Thoughts Create Reality

School holidays are about to start in the UK and are entering their final week in South Africa, so for many of you, there will be a little more time to think of something other than work and the daily routine!

This week’s article, Thoughts create reality, is inspired by a recent newspaper article in which the journalist interviewed Dr John Demartini.

Demartini is one of many leaders in the field of human motivation and empowerment that played an inspiring role in the creation of the New Insights Life Coach Training and Certification Programme.

“You don’t have the potential to create, you are always creating.”

Relationships and Responsibility

The original founder of New Insights, Neil Asher, and his lovely wife Natasha, are celebrating their twelfth wedding anniversary as I write this post.

As Neil points out on his Facebook page, that’s some achievement nowadays … although, as I need to remind him, he’s got a long way to go to catch up with Jenni and me!

The question is: “What is it that makes for a relationship that can truly stand the test of time?”

“When you stop expecting people to be perfect, you can like them for who they are.”
