Just the One

We live in what seems to be an immensely challenged and challenging world.

The vast and growing number of people living on earth today pose an unprecedented challenge to the ability of our planet and its environment to sustain life as we have always known it.

At the same time, despite quantum advances in technology life, for most of us, is more challenging than ever before.

We are living in a time when it is easy to contemplate these issues and conclude that we are, individually, of little or no significance or relevance in the greater scheme of things.

A simple glance skywards on a clear night might be enough to reinforce the perception that each of is no more important than a tiny ant in a huge anthill or a grain of sand in the desert.

“I am just one human being.”

A Life Transformed

This week, I would like to demonstrate the power of life coaching – when administered by a passionate and caring coach – to transform lives.

I am privileged to have received an inspiring and beautiful account from a lady who, just yesterday, we featured on our Facebook page for having achieved New Insights certification as a life coach.

Whereas most trainee life coaches expect their coaching efforts to start bearing real fruit for their clients only after they become qualified and start coaching for reward, Carli Clark was able to experience the fulfilment, that comes with seeing someone grow and develop through coaching, long before achieving certification.

I’d like to thank Carli and her client Zanele for submitting this story and giving me permission to share it here on the Blog.

Enjoy what you do

I’m sure you’ve read that saying that goes something like: “If you enjoy what you do, you’ll never have to work a day in your life.”

A poll released by Gallup in 2013 showed that a meagre 13% of people worldwide actually get enjoyment out of going to work.

Perhaps even more disturbing is the fact that some 27% of the people who indicated that they did not enjoy going to work, reported being ‘actively disengaged’ from their work.

To be blunt, this basically means that they will go as far as to take steps to try to persuade co-workers why they should feel the same way.

So what’s going on here?

“Do what you love and the money will follow.”

Wealth, Success and Spirituality

Traditionally we are accustomed to seeing the pursuit of success and wealth as completely divergent from the path of self-development and spirituality. Consciously or subconsciously we tend to divide our pursuits into two broad categories: inner development and outer achievement. But when we take a closer look, we see that both pursuits can be aspects of the same path.

My thanks go to Devin Iyer, my friend and erstwhile business partner, who wrote this intriguing article for this week’s Blog post. You can find out more about Devin and how to contact him, at the bottom of the post.

A Boerewors Roll for the Soul

It seems like yesterday – but its actually four years ago now – that I wrote and self published my first (and, so far, only) book, “A Boerewors Roll for the Soul – Awaken to the magic of the life you love.”

I can honestly say I did it for love and the experience, more than anything else. Though I regard myself as a reasonably competent marketer, I admit to having been quite pathetic when it comes to applying any marketing expertise to my book. I guess that’s just never been my focus.

Just the other day, however, an old friend in the UK delivered something of a wake-up call.

Unbeknown to me, he found out about the book, ordered a copy, read it … and then proceeded to give me a polite ‘tongue lashing’ via email.

“No one lights a lamp and puts it in a hiding place or under a basket, but on a lamp stand, so that those who enter may see its light.”

– The Bible (International Standard Version)
