Rich Rewards from Coaching

We’re celebrating!

Glance to the right and you’ll notice an award for Life Coaching Insights. Feedspot adjudged us to be one of the top 100 life coach related blogs internationally (you can click on the award to read more).

In fact, we cracked their top 20, being placed 18th – a great honour indeed.

One of the main criteria for this award was quality and consistency of the content posted.

That got me thinking …

“Men are rich only as they give. He who gives great service gets great rewards.”

Six Key Questions to Ask Yourself

One of the critical skills of a life coach is knowing the right questions to ask and when to ask them.

A common request I get from our trainee life coaches is to share what I believe are the most powerful questions to ask of clients.

The New Insights Life Coach Training Programme incorporates a lot of material on this subject and the fact is that there is no set group of questions that work well for every client. Also, questions that may be appropriate during the more advanced stages of the coaching programme can be completely inappropriate during the early rapport building stage – and vice versa.

Nevertheless I do have a few favourite questions that I believe go to the heart of the principles we espouse in life coaching.

I’ve chosen six here that are intended to make you think deeply about who you are, what drives you and how you relate to the world around you and to your authentic inner being.

“The key to wisdom is knowing all the right questions.”

– John A. Simone Sr.

The Power Within You

I’ve heard it said so many times … “life is tough”, “life is an uphill battle”, “life is such a struggle”.

Why is it that so many people feel aggrieved about the quality of their life? Surely that’s not how life on earth was intended to be?

What’s going on here?

If you are someone who is finding life to be a daily grind, or you know of someone who feels that way then I would like to offer you some thoughts on how to come to terms with and deal with this debilitating feeling.

– Marcus Aurelius

A Life Transformed

This week, I would like to demonstrate the power of life coaching – when administered by a passionate and caring coach – to transform lives.

I am privileged to have received an inspiring and beautiful account from a lady who, just yesterday, we featured on our Facebook page for having achieved New Insights certification as a life coach.

Whereas most trainee life coaches expect their coaching efforts to start bearing real fruit for their clients only after they become qualified and start coaching for reward, Carli Clark was able to experience the fulfilment, that comes with seeing someone grow and develop through coaching, long before achieving certification.

I’d like to thank Carli and her client Zanele for submitting this story and giving me permission to share it here on the Blog.

The Change Cycle

It’s easy to get despondent when you embark on a major positive change in your life only to find you slip back into old ways before you achieve what you set out to.

For some, this regression can spell the end of the road as far as pursuing change goes. It can be frustrating, disheartening and sometimes even embarrassing when you have to confront the fact that you didn’t achieve what you set out to.

But there’s another more positive way to look at setbacks that inevitably occur on the journey of change.

“Life is change. Growth is optional. Choose wisely.”

– Karen Kaiser Clark
