The Golden Rule of Life

One thing we try hard not to do at New Insights is to be overly rigid about expecting our trainee life coaches to embrace the principles that we advocate. After all, one of the foundation stones for effective life coaching is having a deep tolerance and appreciation for the different values and beliefs that people may hold.

That said, there are a few important principles that underpin our philosophy.

One of these is that all of us were born into this world with a two-part precious gift, namely an open mind and a free will.

But this wonderful gift comes with a ‘condition of use’ – and that is what I like to refer to as ‘The Golden Rule of Life’.

“We know what we are but not what we may be.”

– William Shakespeare

Ten Steps To a Better You

Just the other day someone sent me an email thanking me for a Blog post that had resonated with them. I was about to send a brief reply with well wishes when I realised there was more to the message.

“Can you recommend ways in which I can better myself?”

“Boy,” I thought, “This is a tough one given that I don’t know the person concerned from a bar of soap!”

My mischievous nature felt inclined to respond: “Read a further nine blog posts” but then I reasoned that this person might not appreciate my taste in humour.

Then I thought: “If I’m going to invest the time to respond with something meaningful I may as well leverage that investment by creating a Blog post!”

So, dear readers, let me share my reply … Ten steps to a better you.

“I think life gives you lemons, and the thing that I’m working on doing is not watering it down, not putting sugar in it. Just drink it straight. The more you can take life head on… it’s gonna make you a better person, and then you have nothing left to be afraid of. And what an awesome way to live. “

Financial Abundance (Part 2)

In Part 1 of this post, we explored the idea that the biggest obstacle to enjoying financial abundance lies in the beliefs one holds about the subject of money, wealth and abundance.

Although at a conscious level you may feel that you are doing everything possible to achieve prosperity, there may be limiting beliefs ‘imprinted’ in your subconscious mind that are ’sabotaging’ your best efforts.

Simply put, there is cause (limiting beliefs about money) and resulting effect (lack of financial abundance).

For example, parents who struggled financially throughout life and who embodied a type of ‘poverty’ mentality to help them cope, may unwittingly have created the environment for their children to develop ‘imprints’ or subconsciously held beliefs that they too would always be destined to  struggle financially.

Let’s look at what it takes to achieve financial abundance.

“True abundance is not about what you have. It is about your state of mind!”

A Boerewors Roll for the Soul

It seems like yesterday – but its actually four years ago now – that I wrote and self published my first (and, so far, only) book, “A Boerewors Roll for the Soul – Awaken to the magic of the life you love.”

I can honestly say I did it for love and the experience, more than anything else. Though I regard myself as a reasonably competent marketer, I admit to having been quite pathetic when it comes to applying any marketing expertise to my book. I guess that’s just never been my focus.

Just the other day, however, an old friend in the UK delivered something of a wake-up call.

Unbeknown to me, he found out about the book, ordered a copy, read it … and then proceeded to give me a polite ‘tongue lashing’ via email.

“No one lights a lamp and puts it in a hiding place or under a basket, but on a lamp stand, so that those who enter may see its light.”

– The Bible (International Standard Version)
