Visualise to Realise

Visualise a desired future situation with great clarity, feeling and regularity and you are bound to realise it.

As all good life coaches know, the process of setting great goals is an important stepping stone towards living the life you love. But just setting goals is not enough to ensure they are achieved.

You have to really want what it is that you are chasing. Or as some would say, you have to demonstrate and hold clear intent.

Visualisation is such a demonstration of intent.

“My method is different. I do not rush into actual work. When I get a new idea, I start at once building it up in my imagination, and make improvements and operate the device in my mind. When I have gone so far as to embody everything in my invention, every possible improvement I can think of, and when I see no fault anywhere, I put into concrete form the final product of my brain.”

– Nikola Tesla (famous electrical inventor)

A Shocking Realisation

Life Coaching, for those who try it without really understanding what it involves, can come as something of a shock…

… A powerful, eye opening and liberating shock in most cases, but a shock nonetheless.

Before I explain, some context is necessary.

“There are three types of people in this world. Firstly, there are people who make things happen. Then there are people who watch things happen. Lastly, there are people who ask, what happened? Which do you want to be?”

Search for the Magic Bullet

I have been watching and responding to entries on Journal@New Insights, our online journalling facility, for some three years now.

One thing that fascinates me is the degree to which people ‘live in hope’. By this I mean they put their faith in finding some ‘magic bullet’ solution to the challenges they face in life.

“People are always looking for the single magic bullet that will totally change everything. There is no single magic bullet.”

Change Agents

In last week’s article, The Winds of Change, I talked about the unprecedented changes that humanity is facing and suggested that while we are navigating uncharted waters from the point of view of the external environment, we may also be witnessing the early stages of change brought about from within, through a collective ‘awakening of consciousness’.

Today I want to focus on the ability that we all have to be agents of change by taking positive action to bring about the kind of change that we really want to see in our world.

“When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, ‘I used everything you gave me.'”

– Erma Bombeck
